Update your privacy policy

To be compliant with the various laws and regulations that come with running a website, such as GDPR and CCPA, you need to have an up-to-date privacy policy linked from either your footer or your menu bar.

Disclaimer: The exact requirements for a privacy policy page can vary between jurisdictions. Your privacy policy is a legal document, and making sure that it's accurate and compliant is your responsibility as a website owner. Affilimate cannot give you legal advice. Make sure to have your privacy policy reviewed by a lawyer to ensure you're fully complying with the applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

How Affilimate processes data

Affilimate does not directly collect any personally identifiable information (called PII) from the visitors of your website. The data alone cannot be used to identify any individual, nor is its anonymized data shared with third-party services outside our platform. Affilimate does not store IP addresses or do browser fingerprinting.

However, commission data you share with us through your integrations inherently contains personally identifiable data such as Order IDs, Transaction IDs, and sometimes IPs or email addresses. Even if individuals cannot be identified by you with the commission data or analytics data alone, it could be used in combination with other data sources to identify individuals. Under GDPR, this nonetheless constitutes personal data.

To this end, we act as a subprocessor of your data and use this data solely to provide you with the service and nothing more. It is your responsibility to determine whether and how consent should be collected from your website visitors, depending on their jurisdiction. It is also your responsibility to determine that you are able to share data with Affilimate in a way that complies with the data provider's terms and conditions.

Take a look at Affilimate's privacy policy for more information about how your site and commission data is processed.

How you can include Affilimate in your privacy policy

Most likely, in your privacy policy, you have a section about "Third-party service providers" or "Subprocessors" which you use on your website.

You can copy and paste this into that section:

Affilimate — This service tracks clicks on affiliate links on my site. You can read their privacy policy here.

Here's the code:

Affilimate — This service tracks clicks and views of affiliate links on my site. You can read their privacy policy here.
